Why we attended the 2025 FROG rally

Today we’re coming to you from the 2025 Forest River Owners Group (FROG 🐸) Rally in Goshen, Indiana.

The FROG rally is an annual event for owners of any Forest River RV and they were here in droves with hundreds of campers. One of the things that was encouraging is that there were more children there this year which means the future of RVing is in good hands.

As for RVs we saw everything from small single-axle trailers to big diesel pushers. Apparently several motorhome groups really had good attendance which is a plus. Of course plenty of really smart RVers were there with their Rockwood and Flagstaff trailers.

Attendees enjoy hearing from our friends at ABC Upfitters

Well that’s new

One of the things we really enjoy is seeing the collection of new RVs that are on-hand to get your camping inspiration in full gear. There was plenty to see, too, but one of the floor plans that got us quite excited is a new no-slide travel trailer from Rockwood/Flagstaff. In fact I already have a review of the new Flagstaff Super Lite 30FKT.

This year we didn’t venture into the diesel pushers but we did look at a number of offerings from a variety of Forest River brands and you know those RVs will have a review posted soon enough in our Honest RV reviews section.

ABC Upfitters stopped by

One of the days at FROG we got to spend with our friends from ABC Upfitters. Our neighbors, the Hoppes, also had an upfit by them but they got more than we did with two 460 amp-hour batteries and more solar than we have. We have a single battery and 1200 watts of solar.

Anyhow, Ben and Stacy came by to answer people’s questions and show off our systems. We both had our power pedestals disconnected so we could show-off how well they work even with air conditioning running.

Patrick Hoppe and his wife, Rose, use their system extensively and we first met them boondocking at the RVMH Hall of Fame in Elkhart. They are avid Boondockers and their system gets a lot of use so they were good examples of how well these things work.

Our trailer is sitting pretty thanks to our new WeighSafe hitch. Don’t look at the dent in the skirt molding on the slide.

We got hitched

One of the reasons we love going to rallies and gatherings is all the services available. Once again we met up with our friend Jeff Gaston from MyRVSchool who weighs RVs, among other things.

We haven’t shared this yet but we got a new WeighSafe hitch to tow our new Rockwood Mini Lite 2506 and have been testing it to see how it compares to our previous hitches.

Part of the process of getting everything dialed-in to our liking is having the truck and trailer weighed and Jeff helped us dial everything in even better than we had done it. While we were quite pleased with how the hitch was performing, having the whole rig weighed made things even better.

Yes, we’ll have a complete story and video soon, very soon. But let me share that this is now our favorite hitch of all the hitches we’ve had.

Spending time with friends at Goshen Brewing Company

Food, Gloria’s food

One of the things included in the rally price are several meals - five dinners and seven breakfasts. But when we were left unsupervised, we moseyed on over to Goshen Brewing Company of course.

Tony & Tina from TNT RVing joined us as did another couple of Mini Lite owners and Stephen Comstock came from Michigan to have dinner with us. Stephen is one heck of a wildlife photographer and has even authored books about that and his journey to Peru. Bonus: he even brought us Michigan peaches 🍑!

We also ventured to The Chief which is an ice cream stand that was recommended by a fellow FROGer. Apparently it was started by a teacher and all the employees are students. Whoever it is the ice cream is deeeeeeelicious!

You speak-a my language

As usual we got to give three seminars - we really like giving seminars and workshops. Our seminars were well-attended, we thought, but there were also seminars given by Mike Sokol, the RV electricity expert. Additionally Lippert and Dexter also gave seminars about products they make - it’s always good to hear right from the manufacturers on how to use their products most effectively.

Speaking at a seminar at the 2025 FROG rally

One of those seminars we attended was on RV refrigeration held by Lippert and we shared our story about how our new RV refrigerator performs.

Should you attend an RV rally

We’ve often advocated that you should attend an RV rally and we still feel that way. Why?

You can meet fellow RVers, of course, but also attend workshops and seminars and often learn directly from the companies who manufacture these systems.

There are other workshops as well plus we bought a few goodies for our trailer including a new entry handle, new dinette cushions, X-chocks, and more. If you have the opportunity to attend a rally do so. You’ll likely come away with new friends, new stuff and a better appreciation for this wonderful experience we call RVing.
