Heck no, we don't want to go!
Rally, Day Two
We had another fun day at the South Llano River Mini Lite Rally. Despite the threat of early rain, we gathered for mimosas, fruit, and pastries. The rain didn’t spoil our breakfast.
The cornhole tournament that was planned for later today was postponed for Sunday, because of the rain and mud.
Despite the mud, everyone was a good sport and opened up their rigs to anyone who wanted to take a tour and see all the modifications and decorations. Look out Tony, Peggy got some great ideas!
A few new friends gathered at our campsite and we chatted the morning away, until the breeze got colder and stronger. Then we all went to hide in our trailers for the afternoon, until dinner.
We baked crescent rolls for the evening potluck. Don’t worry, though, some people brought some terrific dishes and Peggy asked for some recipes to share! We forgot to take any photos, are it! Perhaps another rally attendee will post some and we will add them later.
We can’t leave yet!
For some crazy reason, Peggy planned a LONG 350-mile driving day for Sunday. We were really dreading it and wondering why she thought it was a good idea.
Between that dread and the fact that the rally isn’t really over Sunday morning, Peggy spent the rainy Saturday afternoon finding a way to change plans. So Sunday, we checked out of our campsite and noon, dumped our tanks, and parked in the big parking lot for the amphitheater. We hung out until the Dutch Oven Sticky Piggie Bread was ready for tasting in the early afternoon.
After we pigged out on bread, we made a short drive, just 100 miles. We can now make a shorter drive on Monday as well. Yes, we will have a shorter visit at Carlsbad Caverns, but we think the trade-off was wroth it. That was some good bread, and we made some good new friends. Peggy even volunteered to help organize an activity next year!
