Today’s RV gadget review is of the BougeRV JuiceGo portable power station. I got a prototype of this new gadget and have been testing it on our Texas adventure.

What is the BougeRV JuiceGo portable power station

Essentially this is a small portable power station that boasts 240 watt hour lithium iron battery.

To tap into the battery’s power there is a singe 120 volt household outlet on the back. On the front are two USB C outlets, one capable of 100 watts of output, the other 30 watts. there’s also a USB A outlet capable of 18 watts and a “cigarette lighter” or power port outlet capable of providing 130 watts.

In addition there is a light on this that has three modes and a series of buttons on the front to control the various outlets.

Finally, and this is pretty nifty, there’s a very bright display on the top of the power station that indicates state of charge as well as how much power is either coming in or going out.

Like all portable power stations this is a battery and a way to use that battery so there are three ways to charge this; you can plug this in to a USB C powered outlet, plug this into your vehicles power port (cigarette lighter adapter) or recharge this with solar panels which is how these gadgets got the name solar generator.

The gadget itself weighs in at 6.28 pounds and has a carry strap on the bottom.

How would you use the BougeRV JuiceGo portable power station?

The first thing to know about any portable power station is how much power you need and where.

I can see this being a perfect companion for content creators as it’s very portable but can recharge cameras, drones, laptop computers, tablets, phones and all of that with ease. The power out specifications are very well matched to portable electronic gadgets.

Other things I thought might be a good match for this would be things like heated socks and gloves. You could take this on an outdoor adventure and recharge those heated gloves and socks which would be pretty nice.

If you were really off grid camping this would be perfect for all those portable electronics you might have with you.

It could also power our Bodega portable cooler for a few hours which might be enough for a Costco run or for a picnic to keep the ice cream frozen and the beer cold.

What you can’t do with the BougeRV JuiceGo

As mentioned, it’s good to know the power requirements of your gadgets. I wouldn’t recommend this for things like a CPAP machine. While some CPAP machines might work well with this it’s pushing the limits from the specs I was able to pull up.

You also only have a maximum of 150 watts output on the household power outlet so that’s a limitation. I was able to power our portable cooler using the power port or cigarette lighter adapter.

Another really fun use of this gadget was powering our portable projector. That projector only uses about 60 watts even in performance mode

My opinion of the BougeRV JucieGo portable power station

This thing is built like a brick. I was really pleased with how the buttons felt and the overall build quality of this unit. I can see this thing lasting through adventures and expeditions for a good long while.

I’m also pleased with the labeling of the power output ports so it’s dead simple to figure out where to plug in what. I know my MacBook Pro likes power so I plugged the MagSafe connector into the 100 watt power outlet and it worked perfectly.

At the current price of $199 this can be a great gadget for some users. It would easily fit in a backpack so now you have the power you need on the go to recharge various things.

But do know if you have a CPAP or want to run Starlink off the grid in your RV, you’ll want more power than this unit can provide in a 24 hour period.

In fact trolling the BougeRV website I saw some interesting packages where BougeRV has portable power stations with solar panels matched with both coolers and portable air conditioners.

For the right use, this is a well-built portable power station with good, usable features.
