If you have a travel trailer or fifth wheel with a windshield we believe the Magne Shade windshield cover is a must have. If you don’t know Tony claims to be the man who has found the laziest way to accomplish any task and we have had other windshield covers on our Rockwood Mini Lite travel trailers in the past which we never removed because of what was involved with removing them. Magne Shade’s covers include a pole and have pockets on the corners so you can very easily take them on and off.

Magne Shade makes both a protective windshield cover for when you’re towing and also a sun shade. The sun shade has tiny holes in it so you can see out but which reduces a lot of the heat and glare when you’re inside. The protective towing cover is thickly padded and is designed to protect the windshield from road debris when towing.
We’ve had ours for about a year now and have towed probably 15,000 miles with it and it’s held up well and never come off even in some very windy conditions. Best of all, no cracks in the windshield which could cause the end of a trip.

How do Magne Shade windshield covers fit?
We were the first to help Magne Shade test the windshield covers for Rockwood Mini Lite and Flagstaff Micro Lite trailers as the company came out and literally used a laser measuring device to measure our windshield. According to our friends at Rockwood/Flagstaff the windshield has been the same piece on models built during and after 2021 on the Mini Lite/Micro Lite line.
The resulting fit of the cover itself is remarkable - the precision the company uses to measure out the cover with their laser measuring device is impressive. They also make custom-fit windshield towing covers and shades for other brands of trailers.
Installing the Magne Shade magnets
As the name of the company implies, the covers are held in place by neodymium (rare earth) magnets. The magnets themselves are round buttons with corresponding magnets integrated into the covers. The first time you install them you use the cover to place the magnets on the windshield.
After cleaning the windshield with an included cleaner you then peel the backing off the magnets and stick them to the windshield. I used blue painter’s tape to help with the process and took the windshield cover off while the adhesive “cured” although this wasn’t in their instructions. But it worked.
Installing a Magne Shade windshield cover usually takes less than an hour:
Clean the windshield with the included cleaning spray
Position the magnets using the windshield cover
Test magnet alignment
Remove the backing on the magnets and hold them in place for a minute. Bam.
After that, daily use is super easy - the company includes a pole and you can install and remove the shade from the ground without ever getting on a ladder.
