Shamrock, Texas - Texas Route 66 RV Park review
Review of Texas Route 66 RV Park in Shamrock
We have stayed at the Texas Route 66 RV Park now several times. The park is located in Shamrock, Texas so it makes the perfect home base for exploring that town.
This time we brought ourselves and two other RVs and stayed at the park. The owners and team there are ever-friendly and it’s clear that they’re continually working on upkeep but also improvements. For example it seems that the gift shop and camp store are better stocked than ever which is saying a lot because it’s pretty good.
RV sites at Texas Route 66 RV park
The park has full hook-up sites including several 100’ long sites and there is space for longer RVs, of course.
The sites are nicely-maintained gravel with decent distance between yourself and your neighbors along with a picnic table on a grassy spot between rigs.
Pets are very welcome with there being a dog run but there is also accommodations for horses at the park and we saw a couple of horse trailer-RV combos pull in while we were there with the equine occupants going to the horse motel on property and the human ones enjoying the RV portion of their own rigs.
More than pet friendly
The family that owns the park seems to also have farming in their blood with chickens, turkey, goats and even a donkey that share residency with the RVers. The farm folk are in their own pens, they’re not out wandering amongst the RVs. But it makes strolling through the park that much more enjoyable to see the various critters that occupy the land. Nice.
Until I looked at their website I didn’t realize they had a laundry facility but there it is. There is also a shower/bathroom building that has been progressing nicely albeit slowly.
Another eye-catching thing here are the concrete storm shelters so you know this area gets some severe weather but they seem well-equipped to handle it - better than some RV parks we’ve stayed at.
Overall I’d say with the proximity to Shamrock and how nice the owners are and how affordable this park is, it’s an absolutely home run and there’s a reason we’ve stayed here so many times.
