Honest review of the new-for-2026 Rockwood GeoPro G20BHT

Rockwood GeoPro G20BHT review

Today’s RV review is of the new-for-2026 Rockwood Geo Pro G20BHT. If you’re thinking “new for 2026, haven’t I heard this name before” you’re mostly correct - there is a Rockwood Geo Pro G20BH. No “S”. Also, if you’re thinking that this is a single-axle trailer it’s not - we now have a few GeoPro models with two axles including this one. What hasn’t changed is that these are narrow-body trailers with this one measuring 92” in width instead of a full 8’ in width.

The GeoPro line were almost revolutionary when they first hit the market being smaller trailers that still had a long list of standard features that were absolutely worthwhile. While many smaller and more affordable trailers traditionally had the least amount of equipment, the GeoPro line was not like that. So they were more expensive, but better equipped.

How did that go for Rockwood? They took off like a drag racer on the quarter mile.

Like with many things, cars, RVs, these started smaller and got larger. And larger. And now, as mentioned, there are a whole host of GeoPro trailers with two axles which is a relatively recent development.

Build quality of the Rockwood GeoPro G20BHT

First of all I want to address build quality of trailers in general. There are a lot of ways to build a trailer. But there are two main ways people are used to, wood framing with a metal skin and aluminum framing with a fiberglass skin. In fact we did a podcast about how RVs are built with Josh the RV Nerd.

The way companies do what they do really is quite different when you look beneath that skin.

With laminated trailers, or those that have a smooth skin, there are a lot of ways of actually building things under the skin. From my experience the best way is to vacuum laminate all of the panels but that’s also the most expensive way to do it. There are plenty of trailers built where some walls are laminated and some are “hung” walls, or just fiberglass over the interior structure but not laminated to it.

Just because a company says they have a laminated product doesn’t make it the same laminated product. The Rockwood/Flagstaff trailers are not only vacuum laminated, but the walls are double-glued, use an Azdel substrate (impervious to water damage) and are vacuum laminated in batches of only two walls. Furthermore all the walls are done this way, not just the side walls.

In fact even the ceiling and roof are a vacuum laminated metal-framed foam-lined structure.

The suspension on these is a Dexter TorFlex unit and the tires have banded tire pressure monitors on them as well as balancing beads to help smooth out the ride.

The windows are frameless models that have a lower incidence of leaking. So while you might find these are a bit more expensive than some of the newer models that are entering this space, there’s a good reason for that.

I also like that Rockwood has switched to the Lippert Quick Drop stabilizers in here. These are some of the only units that are certified to be used with a power drill. Yes, we all use a power drill on stabilizers, no we’re not supposed to. And nobody is supposed to use an impact driver, not even on these.

Something else that Rockwood has done, as have a number of RV builders, is upgrade the fittings on the plumbing. There’s an RV YouTuber named Jacob Rigor who has really brought the fact that many RV companies, including Rockwood, have been using PEX clamps on flexible lines which is a guaranteed source of leaks. Ask me how I know?

Anyhow, Rockwood has made changes to the way they build plumbing fixtures and I’m very pleased that this has become an issue in the industry but not all builders are doing anything about it.

Not optional

I had mentioned that these were really well equipped and I wasn’t kidding. All exterior locks are keyed alike - the entry door, the baggage doors, the whole lot and the baggage doors now feature slam latches which is an upgraded feel over the older style latches. That means one key but it also means you don’t have the same key as every other camper in the park.

There’s also a high-performance vent fan in the ceiling as standard but also with a cover. I’ve used the one in my own trailer quite a bit, including in the rain.

For 2026 these trailers now come with 200 watt solar panel on the roof along with an 1,800 watt inverter. You can opt in a second 200 watt panel if you choose and also use a portable panel as well. Even more you could even opt-in the Power Package which is the same solar and lithium system we have in our trailer.

Inside the Rockwood Geo Pro G20BHT

When you first step into the trailer you’ll see a small dinette at the front and then a sofa over in the slide room. Something I love about the new dinette table that Rockwood is using is that it can move front-to-back and side-to-side a few inches so those of us who displace a lot of water in the pool still have room to be comfortable. It’s fat folk friendly! That table also can be pushed up and down and will stop where you like so you could have it be desk height or table height or mash it all the way down to make a day bed.

But then once the table is down you also have a Murphy bed here and Rockwood does the best Murphy beds in the business, period. End of story. No debate. Why?

These are all one piece so no requiring a bendy mattress to make this work. For us this was a good solution and that’s where we learned about the RV Superbag to make this even better.

However when folded down this is a full-sized (54” X 74”) bed facing “east-west.” That means that the person at the very front has to crawl over the other which can either be good or bad, depending on the people. That can be a deal breaker for some buyers.

Over on the road side in a small slide is a couch and that, too, can be folded to accommodate someone at rest. There is a 30” X 15” table that can slot into the front of the couch.

The last sleeping spot are the bunks in the back of the trailer which each measure 26” X 72”. These are pretty narrow and might be great for smaller travelers but I’ve also seen where some people forego one of the bunks and use it for storage or for pets or whatever. Obviously this depends on who’s camping with you. Each bunk does have a curtain as well as a light and USB power outlets.

Kitchen in the Rockwood GeoPro G20BHT

Let’s face it, the kitchen counter in this is pretty small and there are drawers below the counter top. Cooking is done with a two burner propane stove and a convection air fryer microwave. There is also an overhead cabinet.

Good thing here is the standard size 10.7 cubic foot 12 volt refrigerator. These refrigerators have really become more efficient as we detail in this article about 12 volt RV refrigerators.

Bathroom in the Rockwood GeoPro G20BHT

The bathroom, at the rear of the trailer, features a toilet and shower-tub. There’s a small sink on the wall that drops down or folds up depending on whether you want to use it or not.

I am pleased that Rockwood has not gone to the tankless water systems. In theory, the fantasy of unlimited hot water is legit. But these require solid flow rates which doesn’t support RV shower heads “trickle” function to keep the water hot. Tankless water heaters only run on propane in RVs so now there is no taking advantage of being hooked to shore power. Bleh. Once again this is Rockwood favoring the user experience over being able to build their products more cheaply as tankless water heaters cost less than dual-fuel water heaters with tanks.

In summary

One of the newer features on these GeoPro trailers is a voice activated central control system that is about as useless, er, useful as the one in my phone. You can ask it to turn on lights, monitor tank levels, dim the lights and even set scenes like “movie night” or whatever. And, just like the devil in my own phone, it only works when it feels like it. I also like that you can control these functions with simple buttons that always work and you can even use your smart phone which also works well.

I love home automation and have wired up my whole home to be voice activated and “smart” but I can also upgrade that system over time. This one you’re stuck with and, well, I trust the people who make the devil that lives in my phone more than I trust this system to keep things updated and working less poorly.

As I’ve written in the past, I like this brand enough that it’s what I have chosen one myself. But that was after a great deal of research on my part, not any particular favoritism. As someone who understands this industry that’s why I want readers to be able to discern the differences for yourself. If the things I’ve pointed out are something that you value, now you know. If not, there are lots of great RVs out there.

Another detail item are the shades which, in this case, are blackout roller shades. These do a great job of blocking light at night but they’re a more premium feature and not one you’d expect in a more affordable and smaller trailer.

But I don’t want it to sound like these trailers are perfect, either. No RV ever is. Further, the bunk rooms are pretty tight and some people bothered by being in smaller spaces might be bothered by being in this space.

Also know that the Rockwood GeoPro line is the same product as the Flagstaff ePro line. We have an explanation of RV twins and why RV companies make them here.

The GeoPro line has a number of models of different configurations but with the shared values of build quality and high content level. I think these things are part of the reason that this line is so very popular with consumers but also with other manufacturers who have clearly set their sites on the line and are quickly trying to catch up.
