Hot diggity. Anyway, I also have a story that I got permission from the author Nanette to share this. It was a comment in a post in the last few days and Facebook, and I just thought it was terrific. So someone was asking about, you know, is it rude to go next door and borrow a cup of sugar or whatever? Something like that. <laugh>.

And some campgrounds don't even have to go outside your camper to do that.

It's, but Nanette said, I've given items to fellow campers many times. My favorite is an older gentleman was in need of an onion for his just caught trout. I gave him the onion and he insisted I take a salmon filet. It fed all three of us. Hubby laughs about the time I caught a salmon with an onion <laugh>

Hey, there you go. <laugh> by the way, I, I'm gonna tell a story on myself before we tell a story on ourselves. Okay. We were at a campground several nights ago and I saw a brand new Casita pull in and two ladies hopped out and they were you, you know, okay. I knew it was brand new 'cause it had paper plates still on it. And you know how you can tell when somebody is new? 'cause they're kind of looking at all the new stuff they bought and figuring out where it goes. And I went over and I said, Hey, if you guys need any assistance or have any questions, I give classes and I do all this stuff.

And boy, they looked at me like, dude, step side, get away. Get away from us in my exuberance to be a helpful person. It was clear by their body language that they wanted nothing to do with me.

Well, I hope that they did well and had no problems.

I saw no fires and you know, congratulations on your new camper. And uh, hope I didn't protrude too much <laugh> because they were having none of it. Anyway. Anyway.

And then they coil up and two of 'em fit in a little bag together perfectly. And they just have some really, really fantastic things. And I know that that sand free mat outside is built in such a way that the water is getting to the lawn and like the air. And I don't know the sun because when we used it for 10 days when we were at the Frog rally and I picked it up, the grass couldn't tell that there had been a mat over it. You know, a lot of times if you put something down for two or three days, it kills the grass below it. And that sand free mat was not harming the grass at all. Well,

And also it's nice because it just picks up and you shake it out and it's clean. Right. It's a, yeah. Again, another example of something from the Air Gear store that we have that we really, really like. Yep. So yeah, sand free mats. Another thing,

What do you wanna tell us about First

We can start off with the chairs.

If you think of Lipper, you probably think of the chassis. If you're on a towable or you think of the slide mechanism or the suspension, or now with Furion you might think of your air conditioner or your refrigerator or your appliance, other appliances. And you may not realize Lipper has a whole collection of stuff you can buy from the RV industry experience. For example, a few years ago, being who I am, I ran my awning into a tree and I called Lippert.

And the lady I spoke with was so patient and knowledgeable. And we got not just an awning, but we got the smart arm. And that was nice. So I encourage everybody to run your trailers into their feet. <laugh>, wreck your awning, maybe not, and then buy a new one. Or maybe just buy a new,

But we were talking about chairs.

Yeah, we're talking about chairs. And so Lipper has a new, I think you used the technical term stuff. Yeah. That's the proper term. <laugh>. Yeah. But we have a whole line of stuff and normally referred to it as outdoor lifestyle furniture. Oh. You see a lot of things within Libert that are inside the rv. The line of chairs that we have are, uh, like bag chairs. So they're camping chairs, easily movable. And, and you can take 'em different places. Soccer games and such as as well. They can fold up easily. They're heavy duty. And we have an array of colors, you know, I say an array too. <laugh>, well, array and sand, you know, pretty much

They do feel good to sit in. They're, you know, like sometimes at our size mm-hmm. <affirmative>, sometimes we sit in a chair and think, I better only halfway sit 'cause this is gonna collapse under me. And that is certainly not the case with these chairs.

So we have some chairs that are rated between three to 500 pounds. Wow. I mean, they're solid chairs, right? Yeah. Pretty much. You can sit in any of the chairs that you want to and they just feel great. They're padded, some of 'em are more padded than others, but they <laugh> offer a lot of support. Not only do the office support, the frames are still, they're powder coated. And so they'll hold up a little bit better.

You also have propane sensors Yes. That just magnetically go on the bottom of the tank. And those things, they're fantastic. Yes. I love those. What do you love

They just work. It's right. You're in your RV and you're like, Hey, do I have any propane <laugh>? Yes. And it's, it's 1% increments. And so you can see, yes, tank one is full. And now I know why the heater's not working. 'cause Tank two is not, tank

It's just, it's such a logical thing because otherwise you have to pour boiling water over the tank. And that's a whole not thing. There's always tricks to know. Yeah. Or it's just take your phone out, it's just so easy. Yeah. And go on your one control app and you see, oh, I've got, you know, I, I need to fill that propane. So,

And they're installed just by a magnet. So if you change tanks or whatever, or you know, you send it out to be filled and you don't want that to go with it, you just pop the magnet off and put it back on and it comes back. So, right.

Secure, it's a, it's a good thing. And we also have the sensors that you put in your refrigerator and freezer. Yep.

Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Those are, those are also nifty. Yeah. So, uh, in addition, they, so they make a lot of cool stuff. And we had some other goodies.

How about the, uh, FURION tracker? Yeah.

I think that's big surprise. And it's something I didn't know that Lippert had.

It's, it's fairly new portability for one, and just being able to charge your things. Right. Your phone. Yeah. Uh, if you're going off grid, it's important to have something because people still wanna be in touch. Right. Uh, to some extent. So, but we offer three different models. A thousand watt, 500 and 300. When you run 'em down, they take about, uh, overnight to charge. Okay. And you get back going again for the whole day.

Okay. So here are my criteria on liking this type of gadget. Standard connectors. So this, if you have solar panels, you can charge with that. I know some of these portable power stations have proprietary connectors. I like standard because you can mix and match. Right. The outlets all have a place. If you have a grounded outlet that works, and look, you have a, uh, high end and standard output, U S B C two and two, traditional U S B and the cigarette lighter, they don't even call it that anymore.

I don't know what that's called. Power pour. Yeah. DC So pretty neat. Mike and I were talking about these type of power stations as not just good for camping, but also for emergencies. You know, power goes off. Yeah. Yeah. If you are an advocate or a fan of boondocking, which Peggy and I are

These things to come in really super handy for those little things. And we, you all know we don't use a coffee maker, so we don't need it for that. Well, we use our phones constantly. Right. So <laugh>,

So that'll charge your phone. That'll charge.

We need a phone charger or running the star link.

Yeah. So that's the thing, right? I was talking about a 12 volt starlink system. There it is. Right. You plug your starlink into that. And even some RVs of course, have inverters, but if it's a larger inverter, you're consuming a fair amount of your battery power with just the inverter. And having something like that, now you can run your starlink or you can charge your portable devices, or, or

You can make your coffee.

Or you could make your coffee, or you could blow dry your, oh, probably not.

Yeah. And it's nice too. So like, not having a trip hazard, running extension cord to your chair. Right. So it's on your table and now you can charge your, with your charge cord into there. How about the Thomas Payne mattress?

Oh. So, okay. So if you bought an rv, what was probably the first thing you swapped?

I agree. This is a popular item, right?

Yeah. Almost invariably the mattress is terrible. Yeah. Yeah. But then you're, you're thinking, well, I'd like to replace the mattress, but it's a short queen. Or it maybe folds or there's all these different things where RV mattresses may not be the same size.

Correct. Yeah. Yeah.

In Lipper's world, we have the Thomas Payne mattress. It is a foam mattress. We do offer four different sizes. Uh, you touched on those. The king, narrow king, short queen, and regular queen. Those standard sizes and 10 inches of memory foam. So you're talking about that much.

Wow. Yeah.

So nine inches of the, the main part. And there's an inch of the charcoal infused cooling gel on top. Oh, okay. So you'll sleep a little bit cooler firmness. I would say it's about a nine, eight and a half, nine. It's firm. What I've noticed is that older folks, I mean, I say older, but that can be any, you know, span of time. Right, right. I'm older, but I do love the Thomas pain mattress. It sleeps really nice. And there's also a washable removable cover.

Interesting. Okay. You can do that. That's a, huh. That's, that's nice. That's different. I like that. So last year we got to go to the factory, to your plant. That makes them. Yes. And with the furniture factory, which first of all, we have a story as stress us camping about that. It is fascinating fast. It's, it is a huge operation. Yeah. That makes all kinds of furnishing.

That was my, my request. Like we got to see previously the Cassie plant. Yes. And the welding shop and that. And I said, can we go softer <laugh>? I wanna see couches and cushions and mattresses.

Yeah. Do you ever, you know those cartoon characters where they see something and they're like, Ooh, ooh, good. That was when you told us about this and we saw this. Goodness, my eyes popped out. Yeah. It was like up. Gotta have, you know, we all go camping and there's two things. I think we all deal with strange air and strange water if you camp. Well, they say the average person only camps 72 miles from home. But it's probably not that. But if you're like us, yeah. It's probably that's the same err in sea water. But you're like us, we travel all over the place.

And like my allergies here are just going off the charts. I'm used to New Mexico where there's, you know, we have tumbleweeds and rabbits. Another thing we all deal with is strange water. Right. You don't know how old a campground's water system is. Right. Or even the water in your fresh tank. Right. You might think, oh, I'm just gonna drink outta my fresh tank. Well, so this is a water filtration system that you install, like under the sink of your Correct rv or even in your house.

Yeah. In your house. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>.
Tony Barthel
So it operates on 12 pole. Yeah. You take the connection to the faucet off and run it into the filter. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> and then out from the filter through

The water spigot, for example, like some people have a soap dispenser they don't use, and they will remove that and put the faucet there.
Tony Barthel
So it's it's own dedicated faucet. Dedicated faucet. So then you're not wasting filtered water on washing dishes. Right, right,

Right. It's about two liters or about a half a gallon per minute. It's good. Up to, uh, 33,000 gallons Wow. Of water. So. Wow.

Yeah. And I mean, it's a lot of water. A concern of yours is plastic water bottles That's gone. It's over. You can use your

Wow. That's whoa plug. That's right. And I believe we have one more. Yeah.

Suspension just brakes. I've used this analogy more than once. I'm a kind of a meat and potatoes guy. So I think camping starts with having the right equipment to go down the road. Right. And so it's really important to have good tires. Oh yeah. Good suspension. And then also good brakes. Right. Stopping power is everything. My favorite trailer to toe is the one with this brakes. Oh, oh Yeah. 'cause I'm able to stop. So the, the stopping power is increased by, you know, 40% if not more. Just the confidence that it gives you when you know, you, you can stop is an amazing feeling.

Drum breaks if you run through a puddle mm-hmm. <affirmative>, there's a chance that water can get in. The drum, drum breaks is what probably the vast majority of towable RVs have. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. But you never find any, like even the cheapest car you buy nowadays will have disc brakes. Sure. So that's an upgrade you guys offer is disc brakes.

We can install 'em here in Goshen, Indiana. If you don't get it through us, get it through somebody. And, and I mainly push that for people that travel a lot. Right. Full-timers, obviously, you know, on towables fifth wheels and travel trailers. But it's just a peace of mind and a safety thing because there are a lot of drivers out there that don't know how to drive <laugh>. I don't you've ever encountered

I was at a workshop over the past few days and they described breaking distances and with disc breaks it was something like half the distance. So it was a significant Yeah. Improvement. Right. And Lippert has developed antilock breaking for trailer.

My name is Joe Gross. I am from Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Uh, tried to be there as little as possible because I love to rv. Uh, been a scout about a year and a half now. Just right after the inception. Uh, when I got involved, there were about, oh, 2,500 scouts. I can remember us celebrating every time we racked off another thousand new members when we hit 5,000. There was a celebration, 10,000 when there was a celebration. And we're now over 17,000 scouts.

Strong RVing is very personal to me. It's about how I spend my time, my space, uh, sharing what I love. But I got something from Scouts I never expected. It was just a complete shock. I've grown a whole new group of friends and some of them I've gotten very close to, uh, almost like family. Uh, and not just from the Scouts, but from the scouts leadership.

I mean, this is way more than just r viewers helping r viewers trying to make a better experience, which ultimately is the mission. It was kind of a shock to me and a very pleasant surprise as an rvr. And I don't care if it's your very first RV that you spent $9,995 for the corner special, or you've got a $1.5 million motor coach, everybody's gonna encounter a problem. And this is a single space you can go to that someone's gonna do their best to help you.

There's factory people there to assist everybody. It's, it's hard to explain. I mean, I really believe in my heart of hearts, it starts from the leadership down and the way the group is structured and the, the, the total climate of the group. It just has a different feel. You can go there, you can feel comfortable. But the point of that all is we have our power package system, which is a thousand watts of solar and it's a 400 amp power lithium battery and a 3000 watt comba master, which manages the charge controlling battery manager, all of that stuff. And that was all put together by a b, C upfitters. And in our case it was put together and sold as an option in our Rockwood mini light.

And when we got to where we are now, we were in trees and all of that, which I think some people really like in a campground, but we don't because of solar and starlink and all of that.

It's hexagon, it's solid on the top. And then it has five walls that you pull out. You know, you've seen these kind of screen tents with one person can do it. I can't do it 'cause I'm not tall enough to get the middle to go up. But I'm gonna work on figuring that out <laugh>. But we were sitting in there yesterday when it started to rain and even Tony and Bill, who were kind of close to the edges, we're feeling sprinkles on their back. But sprinkles, as long as the rain is coming fairly straight down, it was completely dry inside.

We did buy the sidewalls so we can Velcro the sidewalls on, we could have just popped out and done one, if the rain was coming from one's particular direction, we could have just put a wall on that side to keep the rain from coming in. But it was coming pretty straight down so we didn't have to worry about it. But that picnic pop-up gazebo really is pretty easy to put up. I can almost do it myself if I figure out some kind of a tool to help me reach and kind of push on the roof as the last step. Or perhaps I didn't try to do it by myself the way we did it yesterday by staking it down and then going in and popping the roof.

Well, with all this traveling, have you been able to find an RV that you like this week?

Yes. We have another world premier this week. The Rockwood mini light 25 15 SS travel trailer. Rockwood has a 25 16 2 5 1 6 which has the kitchen on one end and the bedroom on the other. And that model has the kitchen up front and the bedroom in the back. Well Rockwood turned the tables quite literally right by putting the bedroom on this new 25 15 in the front and the kitchen all the way at the back.

Yeah. Some of the neat things, Rockwood is using a new Magic Chef refrigerator for 2024 that opens at either side and it's a brand new design from everything I can tell. And I have really found no good information on this fridge. But I believe it to be specifically designed to be an RV fridge with 12 volt functionality. So variable speed compressor and built-in fence and all the things that our Dometic fridge actually has except our Dometic fridge. The door only opens from one side.

So that fridge, the neat thing is it's right at the back door. So this uh, trailer has two doors. That fridge is right at the back door. So you could just open the door, reach in and grab something out of the fridge. And like all Rockwood comes with a flat top griddle. So you could be cooking outside and just grab, I don't know, the steaks or whatever from the fridge or open it from the inside. And it also has theater seats or a couch in the slide and then a dinette over on the capside, which is good.

This is a polarizing feature apparently for some it has the bathroom in the middle of the trailer, which bisects the trailer now for Peggy and I. That would be great.

In fact this trailer is, we like it enough that if we were to upgrade, this would probably be where we would go. Mm-hmm <affirmative> because with the bathroom in the middle of the trailer, if somebody's in the back and the well in the front in the bedroom, then if you're in the kitchen stirring about, you're not gonna disturb the bedroom person. Right. And I like that. And it's a nice sized bathroom. Another thing that's new in this trailer is it uses what are called lagoon tables at the theater seats.

And what I like about those is you can set the height where you want it and also they swivel around and all of that. So they really accommodate you in a lot of ways. <laugh>, I had said that you could set it so you didn't need a plate and just shovel the food in your mouth. Yeah.

'cause you can put it up kind of high right up to your chin level. Yeah. I mean

I'm sure that's kind of not the idea, but

Probably not, you know. But the beauty of it being that high is that it means it's also counter height level that gives the kitchen a little extra counter space. Yeah.

Admittedly one challenge of this floor plan is there is very little kitchen counter space, but otherwise, uh, as usual it comes with 200 watts of solar. Now they go, uh, they have a 2000 watt inverter that's standard. So you could run more stuff inside and then you can upgrade to 400 watts of solar. But this one is not one of the models that you can get the power package in. So if that's important then this, this ain't gonna work for you.

We are at the point where we review the question of the week from last week. Indeed. And last week's question was what tank treatment do you use? Now when I wrote that, I was thinking product, but the couple of the answers were method. And that is totally legitimate answer too. Hadn't even really kind of thought of it. <laugh> indeed. Once again we had like 30 some odd answers and so I'm gonna tear through them here really quickly. Brian uses lots of water and annual hydro jetting.

Karen uses Happy Camper. Jessica uses Camco. T S t Bill uses Happy Camper. Larry just bought Happy Camper, but he is really flushed with excitement with the <laugh>. Oh

With the Black Tank Flush, which is new to them in their newer rig, which has saved his bacon more than once. And Tony told him he shouldn't be putting bacon down there. Indeed, Mike is a happy camper fan. Gary has used Happy Camper but now is using the Geo method, which is a combination. And I can't give details 'cause I don't know, but look it up, you'll find it. It's a combination of Dawn Dish, soap, Calgon, and Borax. So that is a method rather than a product. Oren, actually I don't, I can't read the whole thing, it's long.

But he does give a good kind of lesson on the difference between a septic system and a black tank. And what it really sort of boils down to is a black tank, things aren't in there really long enough to go through the process that a septic system puts things through. So really what you're using these treatments for is not to process them stuff, but just to keep odors and stuff down. So, and

We had spoken with Jeremy King over at Thetford about the science of tank treatments and all of that and podcast episode 1 57, which I thought was really interesting. Yeah. You know, as you go on your RVing journey might be interesting to listen to that because it was, I really thought that was a good episode and some interesting stuff. And we do use that Ford's products in our tanks and we made that decision after speaking with him.

But there are more than 500 shipwrecks on Lake Superior. So crazy. So I bet any town that's on Lake Superior has a shipwreck tour and you could go on it. But this one that we went on was just super awesome.
