<laugh>? So I got a ride from Paul today. He took me out to probably the site where we will have a meetup next week. And I posted in the meetup event calendar thing on Facebook, thing of a jigger, uh, where we plan to be. Now I'm saying plan potential probably because if someone else camps there before we get there, then that's not where we're going to be. And then we'll have to update it. But I did put where we think would be good. It's really easy access off paved roads. So check out the events on the Facebook page.

And I used the what, three words app to find a location And if we didn't talk about that before, it's like 10 by 10 grid all over the world. So you can put an exact location. So your grid would actually be different than mine right now.

Yeah, what three words there Just randomly generated words. So we will be talking to the, the organizers peaks, the people that, the people that started, what three words are invented, what three words. In a couple of weeks we'll be talking to them and that will be the podcast episode. But for the time being, we're testing it out and that's how we're gonna try to get people to find our location. Okay. So, you know, uh, for those of you who listen regularly, know that we work with a, B, C Upfitters and we really like their solar and lithium systems. And one of the things you don't really think about is what happens if you're hooked up to shore power. And the shore power is no more power. And that's something that happened to us here in Quartzite. We were hooked to, they, they provided us. We're, we're literally camped on the midway. Yeah. Like we were last year. And they provided us with a 30 amp service that at some point went out and unbeknownst to us our power package just kicked in and started operating and we were fine.

We even were running our fireplace over

Night. So I don't know why we have the inverter on while we were hooked while we were plugged in. Yeah.

We usually will shut the

Inverter off this. These things wouldn't have happened if we had turned the inverter off. But this is a great test and a good story.
Tony Barthel
So we wake up in the morning and we're like, that's going on. You know, everything was working, but I'm, I'm such a nerd. I was looked at the display panel that's in the trailer and I'm like, why is the battery at 18% because we're plugged in. That doesn't make any sense. So another thing I really like is our Hughes Power watchdog. And I can look at the power consumption on a Bluetooth app and it's like we're sucking power like crazy now. 'cause now their power was back on and what had happened is the power came back on.

And so the battery system that we have said, woo power's back. And it's like, I'm taking all, I'm gonna take it off. You've told me I can have 28 amps. And so it was sucking power but the fireplace was going. And so the power watchdog was like you're over limit. And the neat thing about that power system is you can dial down how much power comes in. So let's say you are parked at grandma's house and she has a plug in her garage or something like that. You can dial it down so you don't overdraw their circuit.

So a lot of neat things, but it's neat to see and be able to adjust for circumstances. But also how cool is it that we lost power and we,

We didn't even know until morning

We're running an electric fireplace overnight and no problem. So pretty cool. So we are big fans of A BC Upfitters. They do a great job of the solar and lithium installs and you can give them a call and find out more at 5 7 4 2 9 3 9 3 9 9. They do complete systems. They actually have engineers on staff. And we have been just thrilled with this system. And once again, it has proven to be pretty much bulletproof.

One of the things that happens when you come to these shows is you see all kinds of cool good goodies and gadgets of course. And one of the gadgets that was told to me before we even got here by a friend in who's at the Florida RV show, he says, oh, you gotta talk to this guy. This is the coolest gadget. And do you know anyone on the West coast who would be interested in this? And I'm like, well what is it? And so I got in touch with our guest about this gadget and then turns out we meet.

I bought one and I really like it. But let's find out more. What the heck am I talking about <laugh>?
Jonathan Ballesteros
Uh, yeah. So when I was living in the back of a van in Australia for a year, I was always running outta water. And I was really frustrated, especially uh, on the morning of a blind date, which is another story in and of itself. <laugh> trying to get washed and you know, smelling like a burning dumpster. Any new rate. I was always running outta water in the middle of my trip. And uh, I was just looking for a way to make the most of every drop of water. 'cause I was boondocking and living off grid all the time. So I invented a way for two people to take a shower with 0.8 gallons of water.

That's 10 to 20 times less water than any other shower in the market. And you can use it to not only clean yourself, your family, even your dog, but you can also use it to clean your dishes, your gear and just make the most of every drop of water, which is something I think we all find very important, especially if you're living off the grid.
Tony Barthel
So we are with Jonathan Ballesteros from Geyser Systems and that's who invented this system. And I'm gonna have a video of this, but what it basically is, is a device, well there are two versions. One is a fully self-contained shower system that will heat the water, pump the water and provide essentially, I'm gonna call it a sponge bath. Right.

I would call it an astronaut shower, but yes. Okay.

So if you're off grid camping completely, this system will run on 12 volt, heat the water and pump the water and give you a complete shower. So you can, if you're a van lifer or one of the funny things, you come to court site and see an ambulance and you don't know if someone's sick or someone's camping. Right. But an ambulance camper, it's a complete shower in a self-contained unit. But I know a lot of the people who listen to us have an RV with a shower in it as we do.

So we bought your kit to just attach to an RV shower. Yeah. And we've been trying it out for a few days and it's fantastic.
Jonathan Ballesteros
Yeah. For those who need a little bit more of an idea of what that actually looks like, you can take any shower head or shower wand in the RV market. You can just unscrew it from the hose line that it's attached to and then just connect our flow control that comes with a little bit of a tubing. And then at the end of the tubing we have different sponges that you can attach at the end of that tube. And you don't wash yourself with a shower head that's spraying water everywhere, but you wash yourself with a sponge that's directly applying each drop of water exactly where you need it.

And you got different color sponges so that you can easily understand like, okay, well well mine is yellow, yours is green, let's agree. This pink sponge for the dishes and now our base camp's all organized. The Geyser eco shower has been, uh, an outstanding solution for anybody in any RV to turn their 40 gallon water tank into 60 showers, which has been unheard of up to this point. So people have been really excited and this is our first time at the Quartzite Show and we've been seeing a lot of, a lot of happy faces and a lot of customers coming back and saying, my wife, my kids, everyone's clean, super happy.

I'm very pleased with the actual experience of using the Geyer shower that we bought from you. It just is a, it's just a really positive experience and the water saving. So the way I've gauged it, 'cause we haven't used even a fraction of a tank of water yet because of using your system. But as you take a shower in your rv, there's the sort of pause button that, you know, is supposed to get the shower head dribbling a little bit so it doesn't run outta hot water.

And that pump is, you know, it's kinda like, you know, it's, you, you know in your mind the frequency of hearing the pump and using your geyser system in our rv, the frequency that that pump cycles is much less. So it's less even than having the shower head off, which is like, wow, I'm gonna, I want to take a bunch of showers just so I could see how much water I'm saving, which would be a bunch of water wasted. But I, I am very impressed with what you've accomplished. Yeah.

Your shower is probably gonna be an entire day long if you just wait to see how long that water takes gonna last now. But, but yeah, no, I mean, I come from a background of designing advanced surgical instruments for, for Smith and nephews Striker Neurovascular. And I just applied everything I learned designing surgical instruments into this solution because I figured, well shoot, if I could know and if I could add an answer, how do I make the most of every drop of water? That's an answer that could possibly change the world.

And so I feel like people like us who are really pushing the limits of their gear and what I love about this community is like, we're tinkerers, we're project, we're go do, go do it. We figure things out because we're really at the forefront of a, a really like a, a don't wanna say limited life, but you really start to make the most, and you have to be as resourceful as possible.

And little did we know that people who live off the grid are actually, uh, at the very forefront of an idea that's now about to change the world. And I invite anyone who takes our product and just just envision what's possible for mankind. If we took this to places like let's say Mexico City where people are spending upwards of 10% of their income to get water transported to them by truck because they don't live on the water grid. And then they gotta spend even more money just to get the water heated. So, um, and they just use like what they call a hera.

Uh, they just take a little bit of Tupperware and they just splash it over their head from a five gallon bucket. You know, for people like them, you know, not only would this save them a lot of money, which save them a lot of time or save them a lot of energy that they could otherwise be doing.

And this is not just something here in Mexico City or in other foreign countries. I mean, shoot our own backyard. I mean, we live in an area that is facing mega drought, the southwest corner of our country. We're seeing average water bills going up $170 per month. And it's, it's only going up. San San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco have been declaring that their water bills are going up nine to 15%. And that's on top of the crazy rent prices that we're already seeing already. So we are here to help reduce people's water bills. We're here to help people live off grid comfortably.

We're here to help people have a whole new relationship with every drop of water. And most importantly, like you said, have an amazing experience. It's not like, like a low flow shower head leaves a disappointing experience. I don't know if you've ever tried to shower in a cloud of water or mist of water. It's a disappointing, sucky experience. And so this is an experience that's like, you're gonna be like, wow, I feel great. You know,
Tony Barthel
That's been my experience. And now with you saying you design medical equipment, I can understand, 'cause I was looking at it this morning, I'm like, you know, all the fitting because you know, RV plumbing stinks and I was looking at all the fittings and how everything was built and the, you have that diverter valve and everything feels like good quality stuff. Yeah. And I'm like, this is not a piece of junk. This is well thought through. And now having design medical equipment now it makes a lot of sense.
Jonathan Ballesteros
Yeah. And you know, I come from this tribe. So after I lived in the back of a van for a year, I had to buy an RV camper and park it next to a manufacturing line here in Colorado <laugh>. And my Jayco white Hawk Arctic version was awesome. But here's the thing that happened One winter, it, it got too cold and obviously I wasn't running a little dribble, so my shower head had a crack. Oh, now that's of course because water got too cold one night and all that great stuff.

But I was looking at this plastic shower head, it was like, really? I mean really Does it have to be that way? You know? Yeah. And so a part of me is like, look, I just wanna put out a good quality product that can survive the wintertime because I don't want that kind of nonsense from the people that do business with Geyer systems. We have a lifetime warranty, we don't want you to ever need to call us because you know, you've had a disappointed experience with our product. And so this product has been very thoughtfully crafted and a hundred percent of them get tested before they leave our line.

Two weeks. Two weeks or a little bit more to stay? I mean I think there's like an eight month price or something like that for six 180 for six months. Okay. So if you have not ever been to court site and you really want to and you're just not sure, like where should I go? You know, find what is BLM and what is LTV, long-term visitor and decide which one you want. If you only wanna stay for less than two weeks, then go out to the BLM part and you don't have to pay. And that's super cool. And that's where we're gonna do the meetup so that we don't have to worry about people having to pay for a site.

Another interesting thing about the camping here is people will find tribes. So if you like a certain brand of RV or you like star one year we were here and there's a bunch of people with telescopes or Yes. So there are a lot of people who have found their people here in the desert and that's another thing. So it's kind of like, you know, the first time you come here it's like holy smokes, look at all these people look at and then you might like at the court site show or wherever, find your people who share some common interest and then you get to camp with them.

We should ask everybody who's out there in your cars and listening, if you enjoy making the bed in your rv, raise your hand.

Oh good. 'cause that won't disturb their driving 'cause they're not gonna raise their hand. <laugh> <laugh>. So the RV Superbag, if you haven't seen it or you don't know it's there, they do have a booth inside the tent. It is. I'm not gonna do it. Good service. Uh, it is like a big sleeping bag with sheets that are inside and they have Velcro but not the hard scratchy cornered Velcro. They actually have rounded Velcro that they sew in very well. So you're not being scratched by Velcro and it's inside.
Peggy Barthel
So when it's time to wash, you just tear the sheets out by the Velcro, wash them and then stick them back in. You don't have to worry about tucking corners. And I, whenever I pass somebody in there, I always say Listen, I have a fitted sheet that I put around the mattress just to make the mattress look prettier. I wash it like maybe once or twice a year just 'cause I feel like I should <laugh>. It's just a decoration. It's probably don't

Probably people should know that. Yeah, you don't touch it. Yeah,

We don't touch it because that is just a kind of a decoration to make the mattress prettier than we put our super bag on top of that and we crawl into the super bag. So it is super great. It's all American made. It's made in California. We have had the same one for five years and I told Dennis the owner, I kind of wish they weren't so good because I have no reason to replace mine now. I don't need to replace it. I like the color but he has like so many great patterns and colors. I'm like darn I, you know, like I kind of wish I needed to get a new one and I just don't <laugh>.

And it's a towable RV that a couple in Santa Barbara came up with that is exceptionally well made and very, very different from what you would expect. And that's here at the show too to look at. It's all riveted aluminum on the outside, but also the cabinets are aluminum inside. Right. So it's a little bit of an industrial feel, but one of the things I like it has a Murphy bed Now, wait, don't stop listening. It's got a Murphy bed that has a desk integrated into it that when you fold it down you can keep your laptop on that desk.

Right. Is so when the Murphy bed is up on the wall, the desk is out and when you put the Murphy bed down the shelf just stays horizontal so nothing falls off. So you can leave the things on the desk.

And the awning on this thing is more solar panels. Yes. So when it extends there's more solar panels. Yes. And it's just a neat RV and exceptionally well made, but it's also half a million dollars. Boo. Yeah. So it ain't cheap,

It's not light either. I heard someone ask. It is and I think it's like 12,000 pounds dry weight or something.

Its heavy. Yeah. So, but it's kind of, you know, I like seeing outside the box. Yeah. And, and all of that. So what, oh,

That's true. Yeah. So it's, you know, it's not everybody's thing, but they've been selling these a lot apparently to people who put them on a property and keep 'em there. Okay. Not like nomads like us, although nomads like us could buy it too. For sure. And it's, it's a nifty thing. And you know, it's, it's fun to look at this kind of stuff at a show and I've seen it, oh, one of the things that like it has a projector instead of a tv. Right. So that, I don't know, that floats my boat.

So it sounds like the rain kind of slowed down, which is great, but having it rain all day today reminded me that probably as a little bit of a maintenance reminder, we should say, if it's not pouring rain right now, go outside and check the roof of your RV or do that soon-ish. So that, I mean, well I guess those of you that are suffering and in the snow and covered up, you can't do that. But you're probably not leaking if it's covered up. So

Last week anyway, I said it wrong. Our question of the week was, are you camping? Are you packing, are you planning, are you wishing? And those of you who can see my screen can see that I, you maybe can't see, but I, I wrote some notes 'cause I didn't wanna have to open Facebook in case I couldn't get signal. But I really wrote it in, um, I wrote this P-C-P-F-P three <laugh>. So here's what it, here's what they said. Planning, camping, planning, full-time, but staying with family right now for repairs.

Wishing, uh, repair, wishing because they're getting repairs. Planning all three. So Bill, I remember who this was. Yeah, my code bill is camping because he's on his way to court site for the

Meetup. Yeah, he's gonna be here.

He's also on the day he wrote, he said he had just made his reservations for where he's going to be during the eclipse in April. And he's also planning our trip. Well the, the three of us are planning to go on a trip all through New England states in the summer. So he's also, he's uh, so fantastic at planning. He really researches and, and really digs in and figures out. And so he's doing all the things. Uh, planning, planning, planning, planning, wishing, wishing, wishing. And so we went to a show so that we'd have some kind of camping in our lives.

Planning and packing. Uh, that was Ingle actually. And I think by now he's camping because he's coming to the meetup. Yep. And so I think he's probably on his way by now.
