Tony

Holiday shopping season is upon us, but today we have a great gift for yourself, your RV, or anyone on your shopping list.

Peggy

Then I also share a recipe that I actually posted last week and warning, I'm back on my quest for low carb solutions.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Uh oh.

Tony

Well we have this week's podcast along with the notes and everything to do with this episode at our home on the web. Web@stresslesscamping.com where there are discounts, deals, helpful tips and more.

Peggy

Don't forget to like and share and thank you for joining us for episode 3-3-3.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Whoa.

Peggy

Stressless camping.

Tony

Hey, I'm Tony.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Hey, I'm Peggy.

Tony

And we're two RV industry veterans who are on our last day of adventure for a while.

Peggy

Yeah, perhaps the last of this year.

Tony

Oh, dear.

Peggy

It might be our last camping night of the year.

Tony

Oh, no.

Peggy

But we have so much Adventures coming up next year, so not to worry. We will be making those adventures here in our Rockwood Mini Lite 2506R no FK.

Tony

For those of you who don't know, we do plan to do the entirety of Route 66 for the 100 year anniversary. And we've already started making reservations, as have some of you.

Peggy

That's right.

Tony

So we can't wait to get our kicks on Route 66.

Peggy

So excited.

Tony

I can't think of a third thing to rhyme with that. So there we go.

Peggy

And this no tricks.

Tony

That's right.

Peggy

So be sure to check out our, I think in the show calendar, the regular show calendar that's accessible to anybody, we'll have kind of some ideas of where we're going to be. But if you really want to camp with us and you really want to know where we're going to be camping, we have site numbers and everything posted at our secret calendar, which you can.

Tony

Get to as a subscriber of our free weekly no spam newsletter.

Peggy

Exactly.

Tony

This week there was a post on social media by a gentleman who had his, he had a fifth wheel. And when he went to unhook, he pulled the emergency brake and, you know, thinking, oh, that's to stop the fifth wheel from rolling, which of course it did.

Peggy

Sure.

Tony

But the objective of that is... And.

Peggy

So he didn't fix it, right? He thought, I think, I can't remember if he said, I have to fix that later, or if he said, well, hey, now the trailer won't roll. But in any case, he left it engaged.

Tony

Well, he was a new camper, and he left the electronic brake engaged, and found that, hey, surprise, my battery's about to die. Just so you know that emergency brake, which is you attach to the frame of your tow vehicle, from the little wire, there's like a plunger and you can pull it and it'll activate the brakes on your trailer.

Tony

But that's specifically for if it becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle. It's not meant as a parking brake.

Peggy

Right.

Tony

You can actually cause damage to the brake system by using that system as a parking brake. Now, granted, if you're unhooking and your trailer starts to roll, pull it.

Peggy

Definitely. That's what it's for.

Tony

That's what it's for. It's for temporary short-term emergency braking, but not as a parking brake, per se.

Peggy

And if you pull it by accident while you're unhooking, don't panic.

Peggy

Just plug it back together. Everything will be just fine.

Tony

Yep, it'll be hunky and dory. Anyway, we have a link to that post if you're on Facebook. So we'll share that with you in the show notes.

Peggy

So we are on our last night, as we said, of our probably our last night of camping of 2025. Oh, I mean, maybe not. Who knows?

Tony

Yeah, you never know.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

You never know with us.

Peggy

Right. But we are staying in a campground tonight because we're winterizing and cleaning and getting everything ready to kind of let the camper sit for a little while. But up until now, for the last five, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, five nights before that, we were at the Romp It Up Music Festival hosted by the Border Hookups. And we were off grid and we had such a marvelous time. And the thing is that we didn't need to worry about power, which was so wonderful.

Tony

Now, we were in Sonora, Arizona. The day temps were in the mid 70s and the night temps were in the 40s, and we were even able to run our air conditioner.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We.

Tony

It was just a no worries situation. It was fantastic.

Tony

And we ran into another person who has a system from ABC Upfitters.

Peggy

On a flagstaff.

Tony

Yeah, on a flagstaff super light. So it was so cool. It's like, oh, we got to talking solar, which we often do.

Tony

And she said, oh, yeah, I went to ABC Upfitters. Oh, well, that's where our system, we showed off our systems and all that.

Peggy

Yeah.

Tony

And, and the, the whole point of this is just reliable, trouble-free systems that let you camp in more places and just give you a lot of freedom in how you choose where you camp, whether that's overnighting, whether that's five days at a music festival or whatever. So if you would like a reliable, flexible system that's designed for the way you camp, our friends at ABC Upfitters are the people to know.

Peggy

So you can give ABC Upfitters a call at 574 333-3225.

Tony

That's.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

574-333-3225.

Peggy

Or use this QR code probably right here. You can check out other information about them and podcast episodes that we've done and other things.

Tony

Good people to know if you want to camp off the grid with their Master Volt power systems that are all built by one company, even the connectors and everything.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah.

Tony

And it just works.

Peggy

All right. Well, speaking of interviews, we have a really fun interview this week, and we are kind of starting, you know, this is a, it's Halloween is over, so now it's shopping season, right? Holiday shopping season. And we will have, I know that we'll do something specific for Black Friday because we're hearing already from some of our favorite companies.

Peggy

That are having Black Friday sales. But in the meantime, we want to talk about some other things that might help you in shopping for your favorite person on your holiday shopping list, whether it be yourself or your RV or your whoever. So today we are going to talk with Melissa Bond, and she is with a company called rivet Supply Company and They just have such a fantastic idea. We couldn't wait to tell you about it. Yeah.

Tony

So here we go.

Peggy

Today we're very excited to welcome Melissa Bond from Rivet Supply Company. And it is nothing to do with rivets, although maybe there's a story there not to do with Airstreams, which a lot of Airstreamers think when I say rivet. But anyway, Melissa, welcome and thank you for taking some time out of your day. I know you Just came home from camping, so thank you for making this the end of your day.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah, I'm happy to. Thanks for having me. I'm excited to be here.

Tony

For people who don't know what you all do, what do you all do?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah, great question.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And it's fun because when you said nothing to do with the Airstream, well, no, and yes. So there is a story there, but basically, my husband and I, we have been avid campers for our whole lives. I grew up camping with my grandma or with my grandparents and then tent camping. My dad's a scout master. I mean, the whole thing.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And then we tent camped when we were, I mean, forever and with our kids. And then a couple of years ago, we were just like, you know, we're kind of, like, done with tent camping. Let's look into buying a camper. And I actually had my heart set on a green air or R pod because they're amazing. But Justin had wanted an Airstream for his whole life.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

He remembered seeing them, like, in a parking lot when he was a kid. And so we just started kind of looking, and we ended up buying an Airstream. When we got our Airstream, I was excited to collect stickers, and I was like, let's. Let's put them on our door. That's what cool people do.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

They put stickers on their door. And so my husband was like, no, ma'am, we're not putting stickers on our door. We just bought this Airstream, and it was kind of expensive and, I mean.

Peggy

New to us, but.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So anyway, one day, he basically, we're makers, and we love to.

Peggy

He's.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Very creative and he just surprised me on our way when we were going to go on a camping trip and had put a what we now call the adventure board, but a piece of acrylic board on our Airstream door that looked like a forest and it's where we collected stickers. And so we just had that ourselves for a couple of years, loved it, and then people started asking, you know, where'd you get that?

Peggy

All the things.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

My husband has another business.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We're both kind of entrepreneur spirit and decided to start a company. The first thought was that it would be more like things that were just for Airstreams. And so that is where rivet Supply Co came from.

Peggy

Okay.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Then we got too deep in to change the name, and we're definitely not just for Airstreams.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So.

Peggy

Right.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It has stuck. Rivet Supply Co. I mean, it did start with.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Airstream, but we make ways for people to create and capture their memories while camping or otherwise. So that was a long story of that's what we do.

Peggy

No, that's a good story.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I love it.

Tony

Well, and the funny thing is we heard about you, I don't even remember where, but we have this reputation for changing trailers Kind of a lot.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

That's funny. Okay, what's a lot?

Peggy

How many, like every two years lately?

Tony

We were on our fourth Rockwood in six years.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Okay, that is a lot.

Tony

Yeah, a lot.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Some people would call that a lot. I love Rockwoods, though.

Peggy

What do you have?

Tony

Right now we have a 2506FK, which is a front kitchen, and it's a great floor plan.

Tony

We really, really like it.

Peggy

Love it.

Tony

But the problem is exactly as you described.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah.

Tony

Go all over and there's all these great stickers to get.

Tony

And then, you know, if you stick them to the RV, you're, they're stuck. And the next person is like, well, I didn't go to the biggest ball of twine or the Muffler Man Museum or whatever.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah.

Tony

So it makes sense. So the adventure board is a place to put those stickers that then, should you trade trailers or just decide instead of in the living room, you want them in the kitchen, whatever, you can move it.

Peggy

Right?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah, exactly. It is honestly not like rocket rocket science. I mean, it is a piece of acrylic and lots of people have DIY that. And that's really great.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

What I love about Justin and what I love about what he did with it is he made it creative and pretty. So it's also like they have, we have different designs. So the class, the first one was a forest, but it basically has this outline of the forest on the top. So when you're looking at it, it's also like, Okay, I can hang that up in my house and it's pretty.

Peggy

Yeah, yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And we have now just finished, right now, this camping trip, we were like, it's time for a new adventure board. So we have now filled up, filled up our second adventure board.

Peggy

Yep.

Tony

Yeah, you're not limited to just one.

Peggy

Right, that's the great thing.

Peggy

So adventure boards are acrylic and they come in four designs. There's the forest, see if I can remember, the forest, the waves, the ocean, the desert, and the mountains. The mountains, of course.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

There you go, yes, exactly. So we kind of picked the landscapes of America and actually, speaking of Airstream, we actually just launched October 28th, an exclusive Airstream Mountain Adventures.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So it just has, it's only sold at Airstream Supply Company, but we make it and it has mountains, but it has, they we have kind of like this cool Airstream design that says Airstream in the mountains. So that's also technically our fifth design.

Peggy

Oh, that's very cool. Okay.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah.

Peggy

And those designs come black or white acrylic.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Exactly.

Peggy

Either horizontal or a vertical version.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Exactly.

Peggy

Yeah.

Peggy

I know that the vertical version will fit on a door, but will the horizontal version also fit on a door of an RV?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

The horizontal version will not fit on your, the entry door. But what it fits on well is a kitchen door. So a lot of people have an outdoor like flip up kitchen.

Peggy

Oh, right.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I'm sure that hand motion really helps you get it. And that's where that came from is we had people that said, Hey, I actually keep our outdoor kitchen open more often than our entry door. And so we made the horizontal. And then we also have a lot of people that put the horizontal like inside their house over or in their camper, like above a sofa or a couch or something. They like that.

Peggy

Ours is going between, we have a space just that high between the fireplace and the television.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Oh, yay.

Peggy

And so that's where we used to have a cheap, like it was a poster board that we cut the cheap acrylic and that was our sticker board. And now we're gonna have an actually beautiful one.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Well, I mean, I love that, but yeah.

Tony

One of the things that we may not have made obvious, if you do choose the vertical version, it's designed to fit on a door, an RV door.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah.

Peggy

Right.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And the reason why we loved, I mean, you know, Justin first made it for an RV door is because it basically goes on the inside of the RV door.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Those of you who are only listening, I'm making hand motions, but if the door is open, then you have your adventure board on the inside of it. And that way, if you're at the campfire and your screen door is shut, but your door is open, you can see it. You can talk about your memories, but if you're traveling, it's closed and it's inside the camper. Right, that's safe.

Peggy

I was kind of wondering if we put it on the door, would we put it inside or outside?

Peggy

And that is a very, very good reason for putting it outside.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

No, we put it inside. Yeah, we recommend if you want it on the outside to just use those Velcro, I mean it comes with Velcro command strips and you need to put it up and down basically. Basically. We haven't recommended that you travel with it on the outside of your camper.

Peggy

It's not just a sticker and it's not just cheap poster board frame acrylic. It's do you know the actual thickness?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It's eighth inch acrylic and part of what we wanted is for it to be not permanent. So right the tricky part of that is to put it on the outside of your camper when you are up and down in the road. You kind of need it to be more permanent.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And that's just not something that we've advocated for, although I'm sure that people do it and that's totally fine. That's up to you. Yeah. But we have used just Velcro command strips and that way you can take it on and off. Although we've had ours on our camper for two and a half or three years and it's never fallen off.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Right.

Tony

That's using some good sticky.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah. Those command strips, you've got to be, they're tricky. You've got to install them.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

You know, just right, but then they stay. In fact, one of our most popular reels was made by Patty at Gills on Wheels, and she was like, All these things broke on our trip to Alaska, but not the Adventure Board. And it stayed on their truck camper all the way through Alaska. So perfect.

Peggy

That's saying something.

Tony

And it's a good way to collect the stickers that we all get over time. Now what we should do is have everybody who gets one get a free Stressless camping sticker.

Peggy

That's right.

Tony

Yeah.

Peggy

Well, that's true.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I mean, for real. That's a fun idea. I love that. It's interesting because when we started, I did not know it was the thing to like have YouTube. And I did not know it was a thing for content creators to have their own stickers.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I guess I wasn't that cool. So that's like, I just didn't know. That has become a really fun part of this that was not unexpected. So all of these content creators like you that are cool have stickers and so you can collect them and trade them with your friends, which has become something that we do and that's very fun. But it's not why we made it to start with because honestly, wasn't that cool?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I didn't even know it was a thing.

Peggy

And you actually have an adventure board that I, when I met with you in Hershey, that you let me put one of my stickers on your board so you have a board that's just content creators, right?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We do. And it's so fun. It was like we just kind of started that at last year's Hershey Show in 2024.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And then it was like an entire board was almost full up, filled up. And then we went to Tampa and then it was a second board.

Peggy

Yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And so it's been, like I said, the community of people we did not expect has been Incredible.

Peggy

That's fantastic.

Tony

That means that if people do follow content creators and collect stickers of the people that they enjoy watching or listening to or whatnot, they'll need one adventure board for that and one for the places they've been.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I like the way you think, Tony.

Peggy

Yes.

Tony

Well, that's why they put two doors on our trailer.

Peggy

Exactly.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Exactly. That's very fun. You know, content creators have become, I think this is sort of the best surprise. But when we, when we first launched the adventure board and we're like, okay, well, how do we get this, how do we get the word out there? I mean, you can have something really cool, but how do you get the word out there?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So that's when I went on Instagram and I started to see, like, well, I wonder, you know, who these RV people are on Instagram. I honestly hadn't followed much before again. Not that cool on social media. And so I start finding all these people and basically I thought, okay, well let's do an affiliate program and see if we can connect with people that might truly collect stickers and like them and that this could be a good match. So I start just stalking people on Instagram, like, and I'm looking for people who are RVers, I'm looking for people who already have stickers.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It's really important to me that it's not just like fake marketing kind of a thing, you know, yeah. Kind of become how it is. And so I reached out and a lot of people just didn't, I'm sure didn't even get the message because they were like so big, they just didn't get it. But a few people said yes right away. We became friends.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I feel like we talked often, you know, it was this community that I did not know existed and that has become the best part of this. It's incredible. So I'm really grateful for it for that reason. I've met the best people.

Peggy

Terrific.

Tony

Something that every year we go to Quartzsite, which is a big RV show in Arizona. And it's a lot of these friends that you see once a year, but it's such an incredible community and a lot of those people are content creators. But I had no idea when we went to Tampa, when we went to Hershey.

Peggy

Hershey.

Tony

Was just mind-boggling.

Tony

And I thought there was more content created on the West Coast than the East Coast, but boy, was I wrong.

Peggy

Yeah.

Tony

Or just people go there.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

That's so interesting.

Peggy

Yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I've never been to Quartzsite and I've heard it's awesome, but I would say I agree that I think Hershey and honestly, I even think there were more at Tampa last year. I don't know if you've ever been to Tampa, but it's cool and wild.

Peggy

That we can't, we haven't been able to do because we are at Hershey and it's almost exactly the same time. Yeah. It's really, really It's really hard to do both, you know.

Tony

Well, we could do like our buddy Traveling Robert and just hightail it from one side of the country to the next.

Peggy

And he did. Yeah, we know people that will like drive to Quartzsite or whatever and leave their RV and then fly to Tampa and fly back or vice versa. Okay. And I'm like, oh, I don't know.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I feel like that's the only way you could do it though, because I mean, that would be quite the trek for the same days, you know?

Tony

Yeah, and you have to be dedicated.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

You would have to be. I mean, I do think I would love to do Quartzsite at some point, We are physically in Indiana. We have a we are we are rvers.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We do camp. We love it. But we also still have a house. And so for us, Tampa is just physically it's still about 15, 16 hours away. But it's just easier to get to than.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah.

Peggy

Yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Quartzite.

Tony

Quartzite is so different from Hershey. And I'd imagine Tampa's like a bigger Hershey.

Tony

That I think quartzite might be just.

Peggy

A whole, it's a whole other animal.

Tony

Yeah, it's a whole different thing. There's just, I can't even describe it. It's as if Hershey was this organized...

Tony

Hershey is like a city and quartzite is like the Wild West. How's that?

Peggy

Okay.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I've heard rumors of that. That's interesting.

Peggy

Okay, so Justin made you your first adventure board.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes.

Peggy

And he did that with the saw that he already had in the garage or?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Oh, that's such a great question. So he did that with a CNC router, which, yes, we already have, we already have kind of like a wood shop in their basement and for other things that we've done.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So like I said, we've always been creators. Justin runs other businesses where he teaches people things like this. And so, yeah, he already we had it, which is not something that most people just sure are lying around, right?

Tony

But, you know, a lot of RV companies don't have CNC machines.

Peggy

It's true.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes. So that has been part of also why we've been able. So we make everything literally in our house. We use a CNC router for the Adventure board. We use a laser to put our name at the very bottom of it.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We wanted it to be subtle, but we want to Brand it because obviously we're a business. And then we also use a laser to cut out these rail boards. It's like the template that comes with it. And then our sleeve, we do have a local place that does screen printing, and it was a friend of ours, and so they screen print our envelope that it comes in. And we have another local connection that has now started doing our sticker books.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We used to do those, and honestly, we couldn't keep up with them, so. It's all kind of an in-house thing. It's just my husband and I, a couple of neighbor kids, and my dad comes down almost every week on Tuesday, and he works for the cost of gas.

Peggy

Wow.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

He's so sweet.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Nice.

Tony

Wow.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

He's great.

Tony

That's a good rate of pay nowadays for you.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I would pay him.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I just want everyone to know I would pay him. He does not ask to be paid. I usually lunch or something and give them some gas money.

Peggy

And the other thing that's on those adventure boards, and I don't know if this is an option or a part of the normal, is that you can have it personalized. Oh, true.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes. So that is an option. They can come either not personalized or personalized, and everybody has their preference. But it can say adventures with the, and your last name, like adventures with the bonds, or if you've named your camper, we named our camper Rosie, like the robot from the Jetsons. Because we feel like our camper kind.

Peggy

Of looks like it.

Tony

Well, or Rosie the Riveter.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah, it's true.

Tony

Icon of the World War II.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

That's, I didn't put that together, but you're right.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I like that. Or it can say your camper name, just Adventures with Rosie.

Peggy

Okay.

Tony

And then another thing that we got from you at Hershey was a lot of people have those USA stickers or something to put them on.

Peggy

The map.

Peggy

Yeah.

Tony

Yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes.

Tony

And you make a comparable board, but it's the United States.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It's so true.

Peggy

And I love how that is built. We got one and, you know, it's the eighth inch acrylic, but then also every state is like, I assume laser or routed out. When you go to a state and you have a sticker for that state, you can line it up exactly. You. Don't mess up and overlap your stickers.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It looks very, it's true.

Peggy

There's a real little framework there for the state stickers.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes, absolutely. So they are, are also routed out and, yeah, they fit perfectly. Again, Justin designed them.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

He did one set of designs that was just your names. They're, they're colorful, they're classic. It's kind of like what I would probably always pick. And then he did another set of designs, although I love that are, we call landscapes, and it's just kind of something unique from every state. And now we do have an Airstream exclusive that one of their designers named Cameron created that is just Airstream sticker books.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So you can get that at Airstream Supply Company.

Peggy

Oh, okay.

Tony

That's cool.

Peggy

So is it like a picture of an Airstream in every state?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It is, yeah.

Peggy

Okay, that's cool.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It's so interesting because when we first launched the Adventure Board, and another thing we did besides affiliates was we went to RV shows. We started at at our local RV show called the Indie RV Expo. So while we're there, people were, you know, a couple of people would say, oh, what about a US map? What about it?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And we were kind of resistant at first. And honestly, it's because our US map would be and is super boring. Like, we live in Indiana and we would have three stickers, you know, now that we've done this, maybe we have eight or something like that, but. We just don't go far. We're weekenders.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I mean, once a year we usually do a big trip. We do go almost every weekend, but we typically go in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, you know, close by.

Peggy

Yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And we do a lot of things there. So we always get State Park stickers.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And this weekend we got, we went to Brown County, and there's this little roasted nut shop that we always go to, and they had a sticker, so. This, this weekend we got the little chop sticker. But, so we were like, well, we don't travel much with that, but obviously for most RVers it's a big deal.

Peggy

Sure.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And so we did end up creating that.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And we're really glad we did because I think it fits, you know, even if you're not really a sticker collector, it's cool to see where have you been and maybe where have you not gone? Like, oh, we're actually planning a trip to go to Oregon because we haven't been.

Peggy

Exactly.

Tony

Yeah. And you could be like us who like to change trailers.

Tony

And fortunately you have multiple styles of state stickers. So what we've decided is we're gonna put one style that we've been to Peggy and I, and another style that this trailer has been to. And so that way we know, you know, 'cause it's always like, oh, do you put a sticker if you get a new trailer? Right. Because you've been there or because the trailer's been there or whatever and this solves it.

Tony

So you solved a problem for us.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

That's there you go. That's perfect. Well, it's funny because people have like argument. They feel very strongly about what gets for getting a sticker in a state.

Peggy

Yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And I just stay out of that. Like you pick what she wanted.

Peggy

It's up to you.

Tony

You're right.

Tony

It is absolutely people are very passionate about the rules that they have for those stickers.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes, they really, really are. It's, it's pretty funny, actually.

Peggy

But I'm even a little bit torn because our rule pretty much is if we spend the night, you know, if we camp in the camper in that state, then we will put a sticker. But I have to say, when we went on our trip in the early summer and we went through Utah, yes, we slept in Utah, but I don't feel like we saw Utah.

Peggy

And I feel like if I put the sticker on there, then I won't have the incentive to go back and earn that sticker.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah, that's fair. Where is your home base?

Peggy

Are you in New Mexico?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

New Mexico.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Okay.

Tony

So you could see the desert out the window, but it's also bright.

Peggy

It's very glary.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah.

Peggy

So cool.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I've never been to New Mexico.

Tony

See it. Oh, wow.

Peggy

It's so bright.

Tony

That's why it's closed.

Tony

It's pretty, pretty bright outside.

Peggy

So your stickers then, so you have the state stickers and they're a vinyl sticker. You have the two different designs. I love the way the book is put together. It's beautifully bound and you can get through all the states.

Peggy

And you said someone else is taking over doing that for you now. Did you already have the printing press or whatever it's called that makes stickers?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes, so we can make stickers in house. And we did, but our cutter is much slower than we don't have like a commercial, but we don't have the level that a printing store has yet.

Tony

I want to wander around in your basement with all the stuff you guys have.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah, it's pretty fun. It's crazy. I mean, honestly, but it's pretty fun.

Peggy

So that's the die cut because they're not, there's no There's no square or round sticker in your inventory. They're all very beautiful shapes and wonderful and state shapes and everything.

Peggy

But in addition to the state stickers, you also have a whole collection of camping stickers and scenery stickers and sayings, you know, let's go camping and don't, you know, I'm not lost or all those things.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Camp hair, don't care. That's probably my favorite one. I brushed my hair since we went camping today. Yes, and those stickers, you didn't.

Peggy

I didn't either.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

You're on video. Those stickers we do still make. So we do make all of the individual stickers that you can purchase. We designed all of them, but we also still cut those and make them here.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And I'll give you a exclusive first herd on stressless camping. Do you like that?

Tony

Yes, I love it.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Soon to come. Is where you can customize your own state sticker.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So if you're in New Mexico and you take a picture in New Mexico that you love, you can upload it to our site. It'll be in the shape of New Mexico, and then we'll ship it to you. So it's got your picture, and you can put that on your adventure map.

Peggy

Oh, that just adds a whole new layer to my map. I know.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

All you so you'll still get a book that comes with it. Then if you want to, for those extra special memories, or if you want to do it for every state, there's, like, eight that are blocked out that you can't do, you know, like Delaware.

Peggy

It's so tiny.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It's coming soon.

Peggy

That's very cool.

Peggy

So I just want to make sure that I relay this conversation that I had with you, because we have this idea of having two styles of stickers. We might put a sticker for, let's say, Utah and then go back and really explore Utah and put the other style of sticker on top and I wanted to make sure with you that it'll stick that that sticker will stick to the sticker and you said that that is not going to be a problem.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Stick to the sticker. Yes, the sticker will stick to the sticker. That's a great point but yes that will work.

Tony

So- Because they're sticky stickers.

Peggy

They're very sticky.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

They're sticky stickers. They're very sticky and they're five year UV resistant.

Peggy

Oh wonderful.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah, they're like the same kind of vinyl that you use on like a NASCAR car. Oh, it's legit.

Tony

Interesting.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah, but that is fun.

Peggy

Okay, so I know that you also offer gift cards and as we told our listeners last week, this, you know, November and December is kind of holiday shopping time.

Peggy

And so if people are looking for ways of getting gifts for an RVer in their lives, they could order a map or they could just order a gift gift card so that the person could decide what they wanted exactly. Right?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Absolutely. So either way, they make great gifts because it's something that, you know, you don't have to have one. I mean, that's the truth, right?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

You know what I mean? So it's something that is a fun accessory that maybe some people wouldn't buy for themselves immediately when you first buy a camper. Some people would, but it's a great gift and, Yeah, or you can, like you said, do a gift card and then they can decide if they want to personalize it or not personalize it or how they want that to be.

Peggy

So.

Tony

Very cool.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We are gearing up for the holiday season and excited about that.

Peggy

Excellent.

Tony

It's coming.

Peggy

Yes, I'm coming. I know that I also have to do some more work with you, but we are working to be an affiliate of Rivet Supply Company.

Peggy

And so there will be, by the time our listeners hear this or watchers see this, see this, there will be a link on our RV products and services page that will help you find Rivet Supply Company and it'll be a link so that they will know that we sent you there.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes, exactly. Be on the lookout because we are looking to, with our affiliates, send some cool that you might get something extra during the holiday season if they use your link.

Tony

So there you go.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We'll keep that.

Peggy

Bonus time. Extra good reason to shop now. Okay.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes. We like doing those fun things.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And as I mentioned, because we love to make things, that's kind of something we thought could be cool for the holidays is maybe we'll include a little extra something.

Peggy

That's very cool.

Tony

Oh man, sounds good.

Peggy

Yeah.

Tony

Do you have like a concept, why do we all love these stickers so much?

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I love that you asked that. Well, first of all, who doesn't love stickers? I mean, and what's crazy is they've been around forever. Sicker, right? They've been around forever.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We love them. Here's what I love about stickers, is that, first of all, I love collecting something. So it could be other things. We have a lot of children, and we kind of have landed on the idea of, like, a sticker is not large. It doesn't take up a lot of room.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And they're also not very expensive.

Peggy

Right.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And so it's kind of a cool thing to collect where it's like, yes, grab a sticker. It's three dollars or four dollars or whatever. But the reason I'm passionate about rivet supply Co. And it sounds kind of cheesy, but people that know me closely know that is who I am, is that truly the best part of traveling or rving or camping or whatever it is, is making a memory with your family or with the people that you're with.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And all of those memories build real relationships. And so when you collect a sticker or whatever you collect, you literally are tying that memory just to the sticker. So we have a tagline, every sticker tells a story, and we really believe that. Like it's very cool that, okay, you have a sticker from whatever it is. This summer we went to Virginia, and so we have a sticker from the whitewater rafting that we did, and we can talk about the time that, well, we were in the whitewater rafting, the river was so high.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We were, mom wanted to go fast, but everyone else wanted to go slower, you know? And so it's really just this cool time that you can remember the great things that happened and good memories with every sticker.

Tony

Yeah, it's amazing what a mnemonic they are for taking you back to a special place.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah. And how quickly we've, I mean, we have our adventure board from the last three, two and a half years it's lasted.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We say they fit like a hundred ish stickers on there. And so so I'll look at something and I'll be like, oh, yeah, I forgot we did that. I mean, maybe it's my age or whatever, but, you know, you forget about those things that you have done. And so just to remind you, oh, yeah, remember when we did this? And you might have forgotten otherwise.

Peggy

So. Right. Yeah, right.

Tony

Yeah. That's a good point.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Somebody had the idea of, which I think is funny, and we'll see if it comes. They're like, you need a state map that is like. The crazy things that happen are like a little sticker that's like, We broke down in Utah, or We got a flat tire.

Peggy

Just a whole set of disaster stickers.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

A whole set of disaster stickers.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So we'll see. I don't know. It might be too soon for some people to have to answer that.

Peggy

Oddly enough, that leads us to our final two questions.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Ooh, okay.

Peggy

And yeah, these are surprise questions.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Okay.

Peggy

So what we are going to ask you first is to relay to us your worst camping memory.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Oh man, okay. My worst camping memory, it was tent camping. Does that count?

Tony

Oh yeah, absolutely.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

That's probably what made it the worst.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

But my dad and I, and my dad, like I said, I'm just close to my dad. He's really awesome. My dad and I decided to go winter camping, which was, why? Why would we do that in a tent?

Tony

Yeah, you're in Indiana.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So we went winter camping in a tent, and I had read somewhere, you know, like, well, when you have a sleeping bag, it's actually best, like, the fewer clothes you wear, it'll make you warmer. But that's if you have, like, a down sleeping bag. But my sleeping bag was not a down sleeping bag. But I thought that's, so I was in shorts and a t-shirt, and I'm like, oh, I was freezing and I was just like trying to be really cool but I'm like Dad please. And so like 5:30 a.m. we packed up and we left.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I was like that was the worst. So it's the first one that comes to mind but I'm sure I've had many.

Tony

That sounds like our trip to the Jemas.

Peggy

Yeah that was our last tent camping trip too. Yeah.

Peggy

We have RV dealers.

Tony

Yeah, we have all this tent camping gear, but we have an RV, you know, we have our travel trailer, but every once in a while we're like, hey, we got to go tent camping. And the last time we went, oh, it got so cold at night. It was nice in the day, but my gosh, it was cold at night.

Peggy

Yeah.

Tony

And my head was freezing.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I don't know why that would be.

Tony

Come over this.

Peggy

Okay, so to end on a high note, boat. Tell us your best camping memory.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Oh, man, that is going to be tricky.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

But I think what I would say was a couple. It's probably been four years ago.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

We were camping in Michigan, and I always give this as, like, my favorite place to go there, but it's called Lake Michigan Camp and Retreat. I mean, it's not a clever name, but it is a church camp that allows you to also RV camp, but they also have platform tents. And because we, our RV is too small for our children, so they still have to tent camp. We don't feel badly about it. Don't feel badly for them.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

They're teenagers, they're in their 20s, they're fine. They wouldn't want to be in the RV with us. But I think it was just special because it was like one of the last times that all of our family was there because our kids are growing. And so we had, I think, three platform tents and our cousins had their camper and we had our camper. And it was just this fun, I don't have a specific moment, but I just remember like all of us being there was so, so fun and so special.

Peggy

That's awesome.

Tony

That's a great experience. But also you, to kind of reinforce what I would tell people when they were buying. I used to sell RVs.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yeah.

Tony

And one of the things I would tell them is people like, oh, I need to get a bunkhouse so my grandchildren can go with me. And I wasn't this blunt, but it's like, well, they're probably not going to go with you. And they should just sleep in a tent because that would be fun for them anyway.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

You know, if they're little, I wish we would have had one when they were little, but we. But we tent camp when they were little.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It was fun too.

Peggy

Yeah.

Tony

Yeah, kids love tents.

Peggy

Right. They do.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

What's not to love? I mean, it is.

Tony

Exactly.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

It is kind of fun. It is very, actually, I did have a pop-up a very long time ago.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

And what I loved about the pop-ups is you sort of feel like you're in a tent because you can unzip, you know, I think that's a good quality. But, yeah.

Tony

Yeah, like those Rockwood OTGs. There's, it's a line called OTG because it's off the ground. Because that's basically what you're getting.

Tony

Oh, it's a tent.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

He said, okay. That's awesome. I haven't seen, I'm gonna have to check. I love that.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I think the ruse would be fun because then you have the hybrid, like, yes, stand up, but still. I love RV. I mean, it's ridiculous. I've been to so many RV shows. I could be an RV salesman.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Maybe just because I love them.

Peggy

Because you love them. That's awesome. Yeah.

Tony

I'm working on it.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

My next RV, maybe not next, but my dream, let me say that. Is Airstream does have an RV with a hatch. Several of their lines come with the hatch in the back.

Peggy

Yes.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Because now I think we'll always, I love lots of brands, but I mean we've kind of like one, Justin loves them, two, we named our business Rivet Supply Co.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I think we're gonna have an Airstream. We currently just have a 16 foot, but I do love those hatches. Yeah.

Tony

They, yeah. And then if you like bicycling or kayaking, you could just bring, they just go right in that door.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Exactly.

Tony

That's perfect. I think if I were to ever get an Airstream, that's what I'd want, is the one with the hatch in the back.

Peggy

Yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

But thank you for letting us share.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Yes.

Peggy

Oh, yeah. Thank you for being on and joining us and taking time out of your busy day. We really are excited for our adventure board. And I have a stack of stickers.

Peggy

I've been saving up.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So funny.

Peggy

I'm gonna need three boards just to get started.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I think that that is so tip, like you're not alone. I think most people are like, they don't wanna put it someplace permanent.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So many people will be like, I have them all in a Ziploc bag in a drawer. So it's gonna be fun for you 'cause you can take 'em out and you can talk about all the places you went.

Peggy

I'm not sure where it is anymore, but I literally have a file folder. Oh, stickers I've had since I was like 20.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Like, that's so cool.

Peggy

They probably don't even stick anymore. I just have all these stickers from so long ago.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Well, it used to be cool. I mean, when we were young, like you had the sticker books, you know, and you can peel them off.

Peggy

Yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

So fun. Stickers are great.

Tony

Yep.

Peggy

Well, thank you again. And we look forward to getting our board and we look forward to our listeners using our affiliate link to get a great gift for somebody or for themselves and maybe even an extra gift thrown in.

Peggy

We just really have to decide. Which direction we're going with that map and get forward on it, because it's just sitting there in the camper waiting.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

To be put up. It's time to do it, it's time. And then you can move it.

Peggy

By the time this releases, I think that's gonna be our goal, is to get that map up so that as we're talking to you, we can show pictures of our map on the wall.

Tony

That's right.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I love that.

Tony

Well, who knows? We're going to a music festival, and this coming week, or as we record this, tomorrow we're leaving for a music festival, There'll be a lot of beer.

Tony

Maybe I'll just make a decision. Surprise, Peggy.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Okay.

Tony

Look, I did it. All the stickers will be crooked.

Tony

It's called Romp It Up and it's with the border hookups.

Peggy

The border hookups.

Tony

And they're a band or they're a duo that travel in a fifth wheel.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

That's cool.

Tony

And they're putting on a music festival in Arizona.

Peggy

In Arizona, yeah.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I love that. That's so fun. You guys are cool and you're so fun.

Peggy

Thank you so much and have a great day and a great week and we will talk to you very very soon.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Thanks again for having me. Bye friends.

Peggy

Well while you were listening I did put up some pictures of our map that we got from Ribbit. Why do I always say Ribbit?

Tony

I don't know.

Tony

She's probably gonna keep saying it till she croaks.

Peggy

Ribbit Supply Company and we did put just the Arizona State because that's where we were when we happen to hang it on the wall. We are looking forward to adding the states we've already been in and then also adding, you know, more states as time goes on.

Tony

Yep.

Peggy

Yeah.

Tony

Too bad they don't have the state of confusion, but whatever.

Peggy

Yeah. We did, I think, mention while we were talking to Melissa, but you will find a link to rivets ply company on our favorite products and services page. That's an affiliate link so that they know that we we are actually recommending them and that Yuri's shopping through us.

Tony

Yep.

Peggy

And don't forget, Melissa did say if you order during the holidays through our link, she'll know we sent you and she might throw in a little extra something.

Tony

I like a little extra something. Speaking of extra somethings, you made a really good keto friendly bread.

Peggy

I'm glad you liked it. I posted this last week and we had it in the newsletter last week, but I got it posted too late to actually talk got it on the episode.

Peggy

So you've probably, if you're ever on any social media, you've probably seen people making bread out of cottage cheese. And I said, well, it's worth a shot. And, you know, those pictures, and even the pictures that I show in my video, they are. It looks like bread. I think that I came up with a recipe.

Peggy

That tastes fine. Like, I'm not necessarily. I'm not necessarily fooled into thinking it's bread, but I am satisfied with enough bread like texture.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

I.

Peggy

It started out, it literally, if you see it on social media, it's cottage cheese and egg, and it makes a flat bread.

Peggy

And I said, I don't want flat bread, and I don't want something that has a really eggy texture if I'm pretending that it's bread, so. So I think that I finally came up with a recipe that is satisfying enough to me that I can tell myself it's bread and I hope that you like it and if you're at all trying to follow a keto diet maybe this will be helpful to you.

Tony

Well also I mean it's a simple way to make muffins or whatever so that's another thing even if you're like keto shmeeto it's still good.

Tony

Well, one of the things you can do with the keto bread, talk about this transition, is freeze it. Oh, and some of you are in the process of trying not to freeze your poor RVs. And I wanted, you know, a lot of time, it really was, it really was. I admit it, I totally admit it. But a lot of people are kind of in a debate eight of should I use compressed air or should I use the pink RV safe?

Tony

Remember to use the RV safe pink one.

Peggy

Yes.

Tony

Any freeze, which, by the way, can freeze but doesn't expand.

Melissa - Rivet Supply Co

Right.

Peggy

It's like a.

Peggy

It makes a slushy.

Tony

Yeah, but not one you want to.

Peggy

Not one to taste, even though it's pretty pink, but. Right. It does freeze, but it doesn't expand, which really is the problem.

Peggy

Water freezing isn't the problem. Water. Expands when it freezes, and if there's nowhere else for it to go, it just breaks the pipes. So really, I think that the short, really quick answer is it depends on kind of where you live. Are you going to have, are you going to get down to 27 for an hour overnight, which is kind of us?

Peggy

Yeah. And, or are you, are you in the part of the country where it doesn't get above freezing for three months? That is a little more intense and I think a little bit more important to take those extra steps to put in the antifreeze.

Tony

Yeah we do have, we did find an article about winterizing your trailer with air versus antifreeze that we'll put a link to but what are you gonna do? Let us know and why are you gonna do what you're gonna do?

Tony

Yeah this is a great reason to be on our fun and friendly Stressless Campers Facebook group group.

Peggy

It is.

Tony

Where we ask a question every single week.

Peggy

That was a better transition.

Tony

Yeah, it really was.

Tony

Yes, it really was. I admit it.

Peggy

Last week we asked you, and I don't want you to stop answering this.

Tony

No.

Peggy

Is there an RVer on your holiday shopping list?

Peggy

As I said, we plan to kind of introduce or maybe reintroduce a product or a fun something gift be gift givable over the next few weeks. And so we want you to keep that in mind so that when you do get ready to shop for whoever it is, that you'll remember the things that we have reminded you about.

Tony

Well, also, if we come across deals, we'll share those with you.

Peggy

Absolutely.

Tony

If the timing is right, we'll put it in our weekly fun and friendly spam free newsletter.

Peggy

Yes.

Tony

So the question of this week is how many states have you visited and how full would your sticker map be?

Peggy

Yeah, we showed pictures and video of us putting our new map on the door of our camper. It was, you know, the Rivet Supply Company map. We're still waiting for our adventure board because we were going to be out of town.

Peggy

So it's not her fault that we don't have it yet. So we guys said, don't ship it because we're not going to be home. No. And so we are going to have an adventure board. So we'll do another video when we put that up.

Peggy

We already have the space ready for it.

Tony

By the way, I am very pleased when that went up. It just looks super sharp. I, I was very pleased with it.

Peggy

So, so anyway, if you had, if you have or had, would have a map of the United States, how many states would be filled?

Peggy

That is our question for this week.

Tony

You know what? I just thought of we got that event, the map in Pennsylvania.

Peggy

Yeah.

Tony

How many states would we be able to stick on the map just since we got it?

Peggy

Maybe we should.

Tony

How many states has that map?

Peggy

Maybe we should fill that up and take a picture of just since we've had that board, how long it took us, how many states we camped in between the time we received the map and the time we finally put the map on the door.

Tony

Well, we're not saying that we tend to not get around to stuff.

Peggy

Oh boy.

Peggy

Yeah.

Tony

Of course, you know, another thing we do get around to every week, here's another, I'm Transition Tony this week.

We hope you learned a lot and had some fun and got some tips for your next stress less camping Adventure. We're honored by your reviews on Apple podcasts, which helps others find us.
