RV review - 2027 Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB

Review of the 2027 Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB

Today’s RV review is of the 2027 Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB travel trailer. This is a mid-sized couple’s camper and might be an ideal choice for those who truly enjoy cooking on the road. I write that because of the significant amount of counter space in here but there are other things, too. But, as always, let’s start at the road. It is also the sister trailer to the Flagstaff Micro Lite 25SRB with the main difference being the decals.

Why are there two trailers with different names that are the same? We have an article about why RV companies make twins here.

Start at the road with the 2027 Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB

I get called out for criticizing a lot of RVs but that’s because I know there are choices when we’re down here looking up. For example, Rockwood uses Goodyear Endurance tires and inflates those with nitrogen and adds balancing beads to the tires to help keep them balanced. There are also banded tire pressure monitors as well. This is all best-in-class.

I have been to the assembly line for these and know that Rockwood also reinforces their tanks so you can travel with water if need be. They also put 12 volt heating pads on the tanks to keep them warm but they don’t heat the entire underbelly so you might be cautious about how cold it gets and still expect to use the water system. Though I’ve camped in my own trailer down to the teens at night without issue as long as day-time temps are above freezing.

The standard suspension on these is a Dexter torsion axle system but, for 2027, you can also option in the Curt Touring Coil suspension instead.

I also noticed that the exposed screws holding the skirt molding on these trailers has disappeared making for one less potential entry point for water.

On the roof Rockwood is still using an Alpha Ply system with the membrane itself carrying a lifetime warranty and the sealant generally needing much less attention, although all RV roofs should be regularly inspected.

There’s also a new water filtration system on the outside of the RV behind a plastic door that’s rather slick. When you have the filter cartridge screwed into place it works as you would expect. When you unscrew it, it bypasses the system so you can more easily winterize the system. Of course if you choose not to use it at all, it is inherently bypassed.

What’s inside the Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB

Stepping inside the Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB you are immediately faced with a very large counter that serves as a breakfast bar with two bar-height chairs.

Across from the door is the same 12 volt Magic Chef dual-swing refrigerator we have, which I like very much. There is also a theater seat sharing the slide room with the fridge along with a decently-large pantry.

That theater seat faces a 12 volt TV above the bar - another nice feature that lets you watch the StressLess Camping RV podcast, or whatever, even when mboondocking without having to turn on the inverter.

In typical Rockwood fashion you get a three-burner propane stove with a 21” RV oven. There’s a small RV-sized microwave above this and plenty of cabinets and drawers so storage shouldn’t be an issue.

Sleeping in the Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB

Up front you’ll find a true queen-sized bed flanked by hanging storage. Above that is a row of cabinets and I noticed that the hanging storage is shorter to accommodate the cabinets stretching the full width of this space. There’s also a drawer below the hanging storage.

The mattress lifts up on gas struts to reveal storage beneath it and there are drawers beneath that so, overall, you have a good bit of storage in this bedroom.

Behind the closet is space for your electronics along with household and USB power outlets to keep them charged up.

Bathroom in the Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB

At the back of the trailer is a bathroom that spans the width of the rig with a rectangular shower on the camp side and sink with a good sized storage closet on the other. Between them is a porcelain foot flush toilet. There is actually room enough in this space to be able to change clothes or get beautiful for your day of adventure. However you define either of those things.

One thing not expected, there is a small window in the back of the bathroom that does open for air flow so if you have had a night of walking tacos, your fellow travelers won’t have to share your olfactory accomplishments.

Boondocking and travel access in the Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB

Even with the slide in you can squeak into the bathroom of this rig and you could also gain access to the fridge, so this would work for most pit stops along the road.

As for boondocking Rockwood trailers are really good in that department.

There is a standard 1800 watt inverter with 200 watts of solar that has an option to upgrade that to 400 watts. You can also get this with the Power Package which is like the system we so enjoy if you’re really into off-grid camping.

Another plus is that Rockwood trailers come with a feature called the Shower Miser which redirects water back into your water system while you’re waiting for it to get hot in the shower.

I also like that this uses a traditional gas-electric water heater with a six gallon tank. These are honestly better in so many ways, especially if you enjoy boondocking.

My thoughts on the Rockwood Mini Lite 2525RB

This trailer earned a very, very high score in my RV report card - a 4½ out of 5. There were also a number of “perfect fives” in the scoring which is highly unusual. But Rockwood does a great job with their trailers.

Further, they have also done a number of improvement to these RVs. For example, they now have lights that extend from roof to bumper on the back that are redundant turn signal and brake lights as well as back-up lights. We had these installed on our own trailer but it’s nice to see them from the factory here.

There’s also a standard Starlink connector for 2027 which provides an ethernet connector inside the RV and then another outside. There’s also a power connection on the outside such that you can connect the ethernet connector to the outside and connect your devices inside. There’s a 12 volt power switch to turn things on and off.

If you’ve been following us for any length of time you’ll know that we replaced the standard AC unit on our trailer with a Furrion Chill Cube and really liked it. For 2027 these are now standard in the Rockwood Mini Lite line.

Standard for 2027 is a voice assistant called Power Pro which uses the control panel of these trailers to incorporate a voice assistant. You can ask for things like lights on and off, dim lights, report on tank levels, and more. You can set scenes so you could ask it to get things ready to watch a movie, for example, so the lights are dimmed to where you want them to be.

That sort of thing.

If this voice assistant is anything like the one in my phone I’m sure I wouldn’t be alone in reciting words back to it that my mom told me not to say with reinforcement provided by hot sauce.

Overall this is a nice floor plan with some very good changes for 2027 that point to Rockwood really paying attention.
